Three ways to get there

Choose how you're travelling on the Plan page and the planner shows only what fits.

  • DriveType your postcode to start from your front door. See the miles, the time and roughly what the fuel will cost there and back, with holiday homes and cottages shown first.
  • TrainRailway stations show first when you search, and the Get there page shows train options for your trip, with links to book.
  • FlyAirports show first, and you'll see live fares for your dates from your airport, so a European city break is as easy to plan as a weekend in York.

Make the most of two or three days

A short break goes quickly, so it helps to know what's nearby before you arrive. The Things to do page shows bookable tours, well-known sights, restaurants and theatres near where you're staying, plus the typical weather for your dates.

Save the ones you like to your plan, choose the day for each, and keep the rest of the weekend free.

Questions about the weekend break planner

Is the weekend break planner free?

Yes. Single trips are free to plan in full, as many as you like: travel, where to stay, things to do, a day-by-day plan and the budget. The Deal Club adds multi-centre tours, holiday deals from your own airport and sync across your devices.

Can I plan from my home postcode?

Yes. Type any UK postcode or town as your starting point. If you're driving, you'll see the distance, the time and a rough fuel cost from your front door.

Does it show the weather?

Yes. The planner shows the typical weather for your destination and dates, so you know whether to pack a coat. Check the forecast nearer the time too.

Do you book the hotel or train?

No. You book directly with the hotel, train company or travel site. Some links are affiliate links: if you book through them we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
