Holiday planning
Road trip and multi-centre holiday planner
Touring more than one place? Add your stops in order and the planner works out the driving distance between each stop, gives you options for a hire car and finds things to see along the way. It also gives you the option to fly home from a different airport.
How the road trip planner works
Fly-drives, touring holidays and multi-centre trips, by car, train or on foot.
Add your stops
Choose each place and how many nights you're staying. Landing and driving straight on? Your first stop can be just the airport, with no night there.
Choose how you move
Drive, take the train, walk or fly between stops. Walking holidays get distances, rough walking times and a walking map link.
Get the best order
Tap Best order and the planner puts your stops in the order with the least travelling (your first stop stays first). Your stays move with their stop.
See the drives
Every drive shows the distance and time, and you can tap it to find viewpoints, castles, waterfalls and other places worth a stop on the way.
Plan the car hire
Get an idea of hire car costs for the days you're driving, including an estimated one-way fee if you drop the car somewhere else.

A stay and things to do at every stop
Each stop gets its own ideas for places to stay and things to do. Add your bookings in the trip log and your day-by-day plan shows each drive, check-in and day out in order.
See the whole route on a map with your stops, stays and sights, open it in Google Maps or download it for Google My Maps.
Why plan a road trip here
- The whole route at a glanceStops, drives, stays and sights on one map and one day-by-day plan, ready to print or save as a PDF.
- Saves you timeNo more working out driving times stop by stop. The planner does the sums, so you can spend the time choosing where to go.
- A budget for the whole tourEvery booking across every stop adds up in one budget, built from the prices you actually paid.
Questions about the road trip planner
Is the road trip planner free?
Multi-centre tours and road trips with more than one stop are part of the Deal Club, along with holiday deals from your own airport and sync across your devices. Planning trips to one place, with their day-by-day plan and budget, is free, as many as you like.
Can I fly into one airport and home from another?
Yes. Choose whether you go home from your last stop or back to where you started, and the planner works out the travel to match.
How accurate are the driving times?
They're worked out from road routes on OpenStreetMap maps, so treat them as a good guide. Allow extra time for traffic, stops and ferries, and check the route before you set off.
Does it book the hire car?
No. The planner gives you an idea of what car hire might cost and links to book. You book with the hire company, then add the price you paid to your trip log.
Can I do a walking holiday or go by train between stops?
Yes. Choose Walk or Train for any leg. Walking legs show the distance, a rough walking time and a walking map link.
Plan your next road trip
Start with your first stop. It's free to plan a single-centre trip. The Deal Club, with multi-centre tours, opens on Black Friday, 27 November.
